Where an activation agent fits
A State's cooperative records are loaded into NCSR first. Your work starts after that: you help the State make its records live, then help each cooperative claim its record and get its new certificate.
| Step | Who does it | Your part | Lab |
|---|---|---|---|
| Before you start | You | Learn what NCSR is and how to engage officials and cooperatives | L1, L2 |
| 1. Records loaded | Seamfix uploads the State's existing register | Nothing yet. Your work starts when this is done. | — |
| 2. Attestation | A State official, on their own account | Walk them through checking the records and attesting them, so they go live | L4 |
| 3. Claim | The cooperative's officials, with you beside them | Help them create the account, find their record, verify each official, understand the fee and submit | L5 |
| 4. Review | State officials | Not yours. Help the cooperative respond if the State asks for more information | — |
| 5. Certificate | Issued by NCSR on approval | Show the cooperative its certificate and how anyone can check it | L6 |
| Any problem | You first, then Seamfix | Fix it with the field card, or report it with evidence | L8 |
Ten things to know about the field
What activation work is really like. Each one is practised in a lab and checked in the assessment.
Four cycles, then the assessment
One cycle is a full run through the labs for your role on staging, with fresh data each time. Each cycle has an exit condition. A trainee moves on only when they meet it.
Learn
Read Labs 1 and 2 and pass both knowledge checks.
Guided
Trainer drives, trainee follows on their own screen. Exit: every step done once on their own account.
Paired
Trainee drives, trainer watches and prompts. Exit: no more than 3 prompts for the full run.
Solo
Trainee runs it alone with a new data pack. Exit: done unaided, inside 75 minutes.
Teach-back
Trainee teaches one lab to a colleague. Exit: the colleague completes it.
Assessment
Graded on staging by a Seamfix examiner. 90 minutes.
Cleared
Shown as cleared to deploy in the tracker.
20 questions, pass mark 16
Take it after Labs 1 to 9. You see your score as soon as you submit, and your result is sent to the Seamfix examiners. You can retake it.
Six graded tasks, 100 points
The candidate works on staging with their own accounts and a data pack they haven't seen before. The examiner watches and does not help. At two points the examiner deliberately causes a fault for the candidate to recover from. The only notes allowed are the field card in Lab 8.
Pass mark
80 of 100 points, with no task scored at zero.
Automatic fails
Any one of the six conduct failures below fails the attempt, whatever the score.
Attempts
After a fail, do one more solo cycle and wait at least 48 hours before retaking. After 3 fails, restart at cycle 1.
Tasks and rubric
Each task is scored Full, Partial or None. Full means done unaided and correct. Partial means done with one prompt, or with one error the candidate spotted and fixed. None means the candidate needed help, or the outcome was wrong.
Automatic fails
How the attempt runs
- Before. The examiner gives the candidate a data pack: 2 record rows uploaded to staging for the candidate's training State, 4 unused test NINs from the 10000000842–899 range, and the documents for the claim.
- Accounts. The candidate uses their own State Regulator and cooperative accounts. The second approver in A6 is a different person (the examiner), never a second account belonging to the candidate.
- Fault injection (A4). The examiner picks two faults: a NIN with one wrong digit, a poor photo (cap or glasses), a code left to expire, a skipped profile step so Submit stays greyed out, or a claim with no matching record.
- After. The examiner records the attempt in the scoring sheet below. It saves to the tracker straight away.
Scoring sheet
Score each task as the candidate finishes it. The total and the result update as you go. Saving adds the attempt to the readiness tracker.
Who is cleared to deploy
A person is cleared when they have finished all four cycles and their latest attempt passed. Everyone with the tracker access code sees the same list.
